Re: [SOLVED] Decryption time too long

Hey. I know this isn't exactly a solution but if the time taken to decrypt is becoming a regular issue for you and encryption is required then I would suggest not encrypting the entire system at all. Instead just install it normally and use veracrypt to create encrypted volumes/files that store the ...

Share Your Custom Aliases

Hey Everyone. I thought it would be good to have a thread for sharing your custom aliases that others could take and use/modify. Here are mine. alias neofetch="neofetch | lolcat" #Adds colour to neofetch alias watcher="watch grep -e Dirty: -e Writeback: /proc/meminfo" #handy for watching cache flush...

[SOLVED] Arcolinux on ARM?

I know there isn't an official ARM build of Arco but I was wondering if I just installed plain arch onto a raspberry pi using the following instructions https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv6/raspberry-pi then I should be able to pull in the files from github and spice it up to look and function a...

Re: What alternatives are there besides the google giant?

Ecosia. A search engine that uses it's profits to plant trees. https://www.ecosia.org/?c=en Startpage. A search engine that strips your identifying information, encrypts it and proxies your traffic to google before returning the results to you. It does use google but it denies google the ability to ...

Jigdo as a possible download method

Hey everyone. I know this is a long shot as jigdo is somewhat of an obscure bit of software but I think it has real promise and potential if it is picked up and popularized. Development stopped in 2013 but it is available in the AUR. Basically what Jigdo does is ease the distribution of files across...

Re: [QUESTION] Has anyone here tried ungoogled-chromium?

I used it for a while yes but it's still a ram hogging resource monster. The only difference is that it lacks all the google branding and closed source nonsense but the fundamental internals are still the same. I used waterfox as an alternative browser for a long time. It's a 64bit firefox clone wit...

Re: [OPEN] Calamares fails to create partitions when choosing to encrypt.

I'd make a post commenting on it if you feel there is anything missing from the post but I think the calamares team is aware and it'll be sorted when the team have time. I personally don't use or need full disk encryption as I dislike the performance hit and it makes recovery operations much more di...

Re: [OPEN] Calamares fails to create partitions when choosing to encrypt.

I am afraid BloodWolf we need more info. The calamares team needs to get more technical info. Check this out. https://arcolinux.com/help-us-to-make-calamares-or-the-installer-better-and-help-yourself-and-others-in-the-process/ Calamares-D 00:36:22 [6]: Using log file: "/root/.cache/calamares/sessio...

Re: [OPEN] Calamares fails to create partitions when choosing to encrypt.

Just installed ArcoLinuxB Qtile full 19.06.1 and ArcoLinux 19.06.1 with encryption and it installed fine. Curious to see what combo of settings you use. on BIOS I chose to encrypt, use swap with hibernation and install bootloader to the MBR. Failed. then changed to install bootloader to system part...

[PENDING] Calamares fails to create partitions when choosing to encrypt.

Hi there. Having decided to test out the new 19.06 ArcolinuxB-Qtile iso I have noticed that whenever the option to encrypt is selected the installer fails with the following error stating that it has failed to create partitions on the disk. The first image is on a BIOS virtual machine and the second...
