First off, the computer is a 5 or 6 year Toshiba Satellite Intel Core i3-2330M @ 4x 2.2GHz.

@Cooks solution helped me out tremendously. Had this same problem trying to install 6.1. Thought maybe it was just an early version issue, or something, so I decided I would just wait for 6.2. Got 6.2 several days ago..and same problem occured, unfortunately.
I used @Cooks solution as guidance and with a slight difference in how i modded that file, I managed to get it installed. So for anyone else, experiencing the same problem later, this is what I did.

From the liveISO, I followed his directions to /lib/calamares/modules/hwclock/main.py. Opened the file, but instead of commenting out all of that last section that @Cooks mentioned, I only commented out the following:

Code: Select all

try:
subprocess.check_call(["hwclock", "--systohc", "--utc"])
except subprocess.CalledProcessError as e:
return (
"Cannot set hardware clock.",
"hwclock terminated with exit code {}.".format(e.returncode)
)
So, after I was done with it the last section of the file it looked like this:

Code: Select all

def run():
"""
Set hardware clock.
"""

root_mount_point = libcalamares.globalstorage.value("rootMountPoint")
#try:
#subprocess.check_call(["hwclock", "--systohc", "--utc"])
#except subprocess.CalledProcessError as e:
#return (
#"Cannot set hardware clock.",
#"hwclock terminated with exit code {}.".format(e.returncode)
#)

shutil.copy2("/etc/adjtime", "{!s}/etc/".format(root_mount_point))
The formatting will look slightly different, but that's about it. Hopefully this helps out. I'm stoked to finally have it going, it's a good one:)

I posted a question on the forum of Calamares.

https://github.com/calamares/calamares/issues/873

Ofcourse the developers want more information.

Could you please provide us with the necessary information next time you install ArchMerge?

Copy/paste from github.
well .. I would like to see the output of:

hwclock --test -D

and

hwclock --systohc --utc -D

from such a box..

Also a full dmesg would be good to see..
Thanks for helping yourself and others like you.

Provide us with more information and you can be helped.

I must preface by admitting that I do not consider myself to be an advanced user by any means, but rather a Linux hobbyist who I would still consider rather 'green'. So, if anything is missed, or if I can do something better to make things clearer for you guys, guidance would be happily accepted:)

These outputs are from the currently installed system. If you'd like me to have a look from inside the install environment, I could probably do that as well.

Printout for hwclock --test -D

Code: Select all

hwclock from util-linux 2.31

Printout for hwclock --systohc --utc -D

Code: Select all

And dmesg (in full..):

Can you please do one more test ?

Please run the following too:

hwclock --test --directisa -D

Maybe there is a hope these boxes work on ISA bus ..

I forgot to mention in my comment above that the time and date on the system are currently displaying correctly. And a quick glance through a couple of my log files seem to be displaying current times, as well. Not sure how important that is, or if that is even normal, but it has struck me a bit strange.

Oh, and this rig is also a multiboot set up, with this being the first problem with the hwclock I have encountered thus far. Another install tried on top of what I already have, made yesterday, still yielded no such problems with hwclock.
