[SOLVED] ArcoLinux: after update login in loop
[SOLVED] ArcoLinux: after update login in loop
Hi all,
yesterday night I updated pc. This morning after login for a xfce session it returns at the login. If I change to i3 or openbox sessione it's the same.
Every login returns at login in loop. I can only shutdown. Has anyone run into the same problem? Any ideas to solve?
cheers

Re: [OPEN] ArcoLinux: after update login in loop
We have seen this happen in the past.
Like months ago.
You always need to give more info.
What iso are you on? ArcoLinux, ArcoLinuxD or ArcoLinuxB
What version?
My guess is you have not updated in a while? Is that true?

Ok, I am on arcolinux-v18.12.7.iso and I've updated every day. I usually update when updates are available.

Re: [OPEN] ArcoLinux: after update login in loop
Is there anything important on that computer?
Otherwise I would say install the new version.
Just uploaded today on sourceforge.
If there are important files on that computer, let us investigate together.
No easy fix. We need to analyze.

By the way - login means lightdm on ArcoLinux but it can be anything but lightdm and its packages as well.

Re: [SOLVED] ArcoLinux: after update login in loop
I'm borrowing this thread, hope it's ok.
I'm in login loop as well, and i'm able to go to tty, but nothing seems to help. I've updated the system there, downgraded lightdm (tried 2 different versions), but no luck. I even tried gdm, but that didn't help either, still login loop. I don't know what to do.
Haven't tried it yet, but is it possible to delete all login managers and just use startx? I think it wouldn't boot...
ArcoB (latest Xmonad) is in Virtualbox at the moment, but it's the same with real hardware. It was a fresh install, then just booted the system up and updated fully. Did nothing else, no software installs, nothing. Then rebooted and the login loop happened.
