[SOLVED] cadence refuses to autostart...

Post by Zero » Tue May 01, 2018 5:03 pm

Peculiar problem: on my fresh new install (ArcolinuxD 6.7.1 + XFCE - a customised BYOI) I have set Cadence (a Jack control app) to autostart, as I did in my previous installation. However, it steadfastly refuses to do so no matter what I do. Cadence can be started manually via the menu or via the terminal with no problem...

It's a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless!

This is the entry in autostart:

Code: Select all

cadence --minimized
which is identical to the entry in the menu system - which works fine.
This is the output from the terminal when entering the same:

which again, is successful.

Is there an autostart log which might be consulted?

I installed it.
Created an autostart in xfce and it works after rebooting.

Here are the settings.

That is exactly the entry I already have in my autostart folder:

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=0.9.4
Type=Application
Name=Cadence
Comment=
Exec=cadence --minimized
OnlyShowIn=XFCE;
StartupNotify=false
Terminal=false
Hidden=false
...

Yep. It should.

I'm now thinking I'll write a script to start it, and autostart that script - see what happens...

I'm afraid that didn't work either.

I've been doing some reading around the problem, and it seems there are occasional problems of this nature with Cadence and LADISH on some set-ups - I'm afraid it all got a bit to technical for me to understand properly, but there did seem to be some hope of sorting it out with the next update. So I guess I'll wait and see!

ok - i would do a clean install and install that one first
then see if it works
I think it will
then you install more things... some of them can conflict with cadence...
analyze, analyze, analyze
