This is a fresh install - and cadence, along with Jack and it's dependencies, were built into the BYOI packages.both script!

I've not given up - I'm at the 'watch and wait' stage of the problem solving protocol!

Solved by installing gtk-engine-murrine!

I'd got quite used, over the years, to seeing terminal error messages about the inability to find murrine when starting various programs, but had ignored them as there was never any consequences - but it seems that the autostart process is unable to ignore them. So now we know...

Would it be possible to have gtk-engine-murrine included in the ISO?
Many errors go unnoticed in the background due to this package missing.

It is already in ArcoLinux.

ArcoLinuxD is the bare iso. So you need to install it yourself via scripts.

ArcoLinuxB you decide if you want it when you build the iso.

We put it on Xfce, Openbox and i3. The rest does not have gtk-engine-murrine.

Status december 2018.
