[SOLVED] suggestion - add file to know installation date

Post by Tmaros » Tue Oct 16, 2018 5:04 pm

Hi!
When I was using system for some time (Vanilla Arch), I was wondering when did I install my system. I searched for oldest file in my system and thought that might be the date.
Maybe it would be nice to create (when Calamares installs everything) i.e. hidden file .install_date with simple touch command inside user's personal folder. Just an idea. If there already exists solution for this, please let me know :)

Best regards and thanks for such great work with Arco linux,
Tim

No need for that.

We have the command sysinfo on all our ArcoLinux iso's.
The date you see near the bottom is actually 'the date of birth' or 'the date of installation'.

A quick search on the net gives you also these commands :

head -n1 /var/log/pacman.log

sudo tune2fs -l /dev/sda1 | grep 'Filesystem created:'
sudo tune2fs -l /dev/sda2 | grep 'Filesystem created:'
sudo tune2fs -l /dev/sda3 | grep 'Filesystem created:'
