[SOLVED] Cannot access Arcolinux key for repository

Post by MrCush » Mon Oct 22, 2018 10:36 am

For some reason whenever I run your script ./10-trust-key-v1.sh I get this back:

Code: Select all

gpg: keyserver receive failed: No data
==> ERROR: Remote key not fetched correctly from keyserver
I saw your post on editing the /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/gpg.conf but this is what my file says:

Code: Select all

no-greeting
no-permission-warning
lock-never
keyserver-options timeout=10
So I didn't see a "keyserver line" to change that had an hpk or hpks address. I tried adding:

Code: Select all

hkps://hkps.pool.sks-keyserver.net:443
at the end after keyserver-options but still no success. I also tried replacing the keyserver-options line since you had said to change the keyserver
line and that's the only line I have that says keyserver. I've also tried all the hpk and hpks servers listed in your post as well as the wiki page I'm about to list. I tried looking through the Arch Package Signing Troubleshooting Wiki and after running

Code: Select all

sudo dirmngr
it said that my /root/.gnupg/dirmngr_ldapservers.conf file didn't exist so I created an empty file like it said and that worked out.
Still no success running the your script.
I then found a post that didn't have so much to do with my issue but had some commands that looked interesting and it also dealt with
his/her /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/gpg.conf not being setup right so I tried running:

Code: Select all

sudo pacman-key --init
sudo pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring
sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux
sudo pacman-key --refresh-keys
When I ran it to refresh my keys it came back saying that almost all my keys were bad
and ended up giving me this output at the end

Code: Select all

Total number processed: 105
unchanged: 2
new user IDs: 8
new subkeys: 2
new signatures: 3949
Finally, from your post I decided to just try:

Code: Select all

sudo pacman-key -r 74F5DE85A506BF64
Aaand it worked...
I then did

Code: Select all

sudo pacman-key --lsign-key 74F5DE85A506BF64
And I didn't get back the prettiest response

Code: Select all

	-> Locally signing key 74F5DE85A506BF64
==> Updating trust database...
gpg: marginals needed: 3 completes needed: 1 trust model: pgp
gpg: bad data signature from key 20E8A9C77716EB4F: Wrong key usage (0x19, 0x2)
gpg: depth: 0 valid: 1 signed: 6 trust: 0-, 0q, 0n, 0m, 0f, 1u
gpg: bad data signature from key 20E8A9C77716EB4F: Wrong key usage (0x19, 0x2)
gpg: depth: 1 valid: 6 signed: 77 trust: 1-, 0q, 0n, 5m, 0f, 0u
gpg: depth: 2 valid: 70 signed: 15 trust: 70-, 0q, 0n, 0m, 0f, 0u
gpg: next trustdb check due at 2018-12-31
Do you have any idea what's going on here by chance? As far as what I've done to get here, I followed
your Arch Linux guide word for word into i3-gaps-next install all the way up word for word until I tried
installing that script.
After I manually added the key I was able to run the script and add your repo. However, is there some
issue I'm coming across with these bad keys and the gpg.conf file not having a keyserver listed?
Sorry for yet another long winded post but I felt the more info I give the better >.<

Thanks! I’ll check it out when I get off from work and let you know. By the way, I was having issues downloading arcolinux from the repo as it is conflicting with the lightdm-gtk-greeter. Whenever I try to uninstall it tells me that lightdm-gtk-greeter is conflicting with lightdm-gtk -greeter, whatever that means. When I was looking online last night, most people aren’t too worried about uninstalling.

I really appreciate you making a video at my request. I went ahead and created the gpg.conf in the home hidden directory .gnupg since that file wasn't there and I added the keyservers I was missing in the /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/gpg.conf file as well.

I had to hashtag out the

Code: Select all

sudo pacman -S arcolinux-lightdm-gtk-greeter --noconfirm --needed
sudo pacman -S arcolinux-lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings --noconfirm --needed
since it's conflicting with the default lightdm-gtk-greeter I installed from the video unfortunately. Wish I hadn't cloned my VM literally right after installing lightdm and rather cloned it right before haha. I'm going to look inside the actual repo and see if I can figure out how to get it themed right.

We have our own lightdm greeter. So conflict is super normal. They are the same files but tweaked to become an ArcoLinux version of it.

Alright. Sounds good. I’ll just tweak it myself with your files as guidance. I know I’ve said it before but I really appreciate all the work you’ve put into these guides. First time following a guide to install arch I didn’t understand a thing I was doing and it seemed so daunting. Now it seems So simple and I could install within 15-20min (just officially installed onto my laptop last night after feeling comfortable on the VirtualBox). I don’t know where I’d be without this site. You do so much for the community with this. Keep up the good work!

Thanks.

Your words are appreciated. They really are.

Can we mark this topic as solved then?
