[OPEN] Installation Failure with LVM

Post by PrepperJack » Thu Jun 27, 2019 6:43 am

I have a few SSDs that I have combined into an VG that I keep getting a installation failure on. To make things as simple as possible, I have completely wiped all the drives, and I currently only have one drive in the VG. No matter what I do, though, the installation fails during the grub install - it gives an error that it cannot find a device for /boot/grub (is /dev mounted?.) The interesting thing is that once I start the install, the VGs/LVs all disappear from /dev. While they do show up with vgdisplay/lvdisplay, they don't show up with ls /dev or /dev/mapper. And even though calamares seems to indicate that it has copied files over, after I reboot and look at the lv, its completely empty save lost+found. I've been through several wipes, recreation of the PV/VG/LV, and nothing changes. At this point, I'm probably better off just installing to one of my spinners and then rsync the install over to the lv, but I'm tired and stubborn, so, here I am... Any ideas?

Have you checked if Calamares can do this?
Have you checked if there are issues with this function on their github?

If you think you discovered a new issue, you can report it here.
If you put time in reporting the issue, they can put in time to fix it.
