[OPEN] encrypted install is a problem?

Post by lisathomas » Sun Oct 07, 2018 4:13 pm

I installed arcolinuxb/xfce on an external usb hd. I manually partitioned the usb, and requested that the boot, root, swap, and home partitions be encrypted. The install was successful. But a subsequent bulk software update via yay broke the installed software. One error msg: "/openswap_keymount: no filesystem type specified."

I repeated this install a number of times, and the same failure occurs.

Other messages indicate that the resume partition, and the encrypted root partition cannot be found. Interestingly enough, I have a successful install of an encrypted arcolinuxd. I am just trying to replicate it here with arcolinuxb.

I have no experience with this.
Maybe someone else has.

Come to think of it - Did you check the github of calamares?

There you can read what is possible with the installer.

Thank you for your prompt response, erik. I have just been to github/calamares. Nothing there re my problem. I am thinking of filing a bug report. Seems like a calamares problem indeed. When I was googling this problem, I found a discussion of a similar problem in a manjaro forum. It's been marked solved. But I couldn't find the solution or whether it would apply to my particular problem.

Cheers

Oops. I think I will have to take back what I said earlier. This may not be a calamares problem at all. The arcolinuxb/xfce install succeeded. It was a subsequent software update that broke the system.

Cheers (again).
