[INFO] MacBook Pro

Post by Nologo » Fri Dec 01, 2017 12:39 am

I got WiFi to work, if there are other Archmergers with Macbook Pro that wants to know "HowTo".

Info: Link: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/broadcom_wireless --> (see broadcom-wl)

Tool (1):
Command to see your driver:
lspci -vnn | grep -i net
Example = Broadcom Limited BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:43a0] (rev 03)

Tool (2):
Download "broadcom-wl" (aur) with graphic pamac or pacman "with aur support"

Tool (3):
Open nm-connection-editor

Add new Wireless
SSID:"Your preference"
Security: "Your preference"
Password: "Your preference"

Remove LAN cable.
You are up, & done! : )

Hi Erik, here you go:

macOS Sierra
Version 10.12.6 (16G1036)
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13 inch, late 2013)
Processor 2,6 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphic Intel Iris 1536 MB

Other:
I took a long time to get here, reading posts on blogs and so on... have some good docs to read if someone wants it. Mostly debian stuff & Linux Kernel info.
But its easy when you know : )

i have a 2011 MacBook Pro 15" still going strong with ArchMerge installed in VMWare Fusion v10. Had no issues what so ever installing the open-vm-tools to get everything up and running. The only things is that when I log in I need to manually resize the screen to full screen. happy holidays to all.

Macbook Pro Wi-Fi

New Solution (for ArchmergeD 6.3.1)

I didnt get the broadcom-wl to work this time (by some curious way)
But here are my findings HowTo:

pacman -S linux-headers
pacman -S broadcom-wl-dkms
rmmod b43 b43legacy ssb bcm43xx brcm80211 brcmfmac brcmsmac bcma wl
modprobe wl

Reboot

All set with Wi-Fi again : )

Learning: Both broadcom-wl-dkms & broadcom-wl works with ArchMerge on Macbook Pro.
