[INFO] Mate and screen tearing / rippling (Nvidia 1070)

Post by Menditsa » Wed Aug 22, 2018 12:12 am

First problem: Slight tearing when watching video's on youtube or in VLC

Have had this across many mate distro's and best solution i have found is to install nvidia-driver compton mate-tweak
Once you have these installed open up MATE Tweak, click on Windows then under Window Manager select Marco (Compton GPU compositor)

Second problem: Rippling in Chrome and Firefox when scrolling

Open Google Chrome.Type chrome://flags/#smooth-scrolling into the address bar of Chrome and press Enter. Select Disabled
Open Firefox. Type about:preferences into the address bar of Firefox and scroll down to Browsing and uncheck Use smooth scrolling

Hope this is helpful.
