[OPEN] Polybar with Dual-Screen

Post by dcied » Mon Jan 14, 2019 9:07 am

first of all thanks for the great work on Arco LInux and this Forum. Really cool !

Im using an Arch Install with Arco Spices installed, my WM is i3 and Polybar.

Now I have just attached a second monitor and cant figure out how to set Polybar to appear on just one Screen.
Right now it is appearing on both screens.
Plus, the tray icons sometimes appear on Screen 1 and sometimes on Screen 2, I dont know how.

Hope you can point me to the right directions to figure out what to change here.

there is this part from the polybar config where it says something about monitor, but honestly I dont understand what it does. I havent changed anything.
If you need more, let me know.

Code: Select all

monitor = ${env:MONITOR}
monitor-fallback = HDMI1
monitor-strict = false
override-redirect = false
bottom = false
fixed-center = true
width = 100%
height = 25
;offset-x = 1%
;offset-y = 1%

And thats my screenlayout. I basically want the bar to appear on my secondary monitor, cause my primary one is always in fullscreen mode.

Code: Select all

xrandr --output HDMI-1-3 --mode 1280x1024 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --output DVI-I-1-1 --off --output DVI-D-1 --primary --mode 1920x1080 --pos 1280x0 --rotate normal --output VGA-1-1 --off --output HDMI-1 --off --output HDMI-2 --off
thank you

You should check the config of polybar.

In this file you decide whether you create 2 polybars or just the one
