[CLOSED] dconf script not working

Post by abumasood » Mon Jan 15, 2018 1:28 am

Is there any reason why Personal\630-install-dconf-settings-v1.sh script is not changing the theme in Cinnamon?
I have ran it several times, rebooted, logout/login, and no success.

it is not only the dconf that holds settings - There are only a few settings in there. I do not recall anymore what settings where in there. I think Plank is one of them. See what happens if you put the dconf file from package archmerge-iso-skel-git from /etc/skel to your home directory.
That will be the dconf from ArchMerge.
ps. with dconf-editor you can see the contents

Hi Erik,

It didn't seem to make a difference. However, I themed Cinnamon desktop manually and it looks great. This is my first attempt to run ArchMergeD with Cinnamon on a virtual machine. It looks great! ... I followed your video tutorials all three parts on Cinnamon. I will create new virtual machine and run the scripts again and see if I get a better results. I will update this thread, once I am done.

Regards,
Marc

The idea is in fact to copy/paste my scripts and make it your own.
So

You change the scripts. Copy/paste your changed dconf (and all other changed folders/files) to your next system and all the hard work will be applied again.

I just installed ArchMergeD Cinnamon.
The difference between the standard dconf and the dconf in the personal folder is for example
  • choice of icons
  • position of plank
Some of the changes you do to the system are being stored in the ~/.config/dconf/dconf
You can analyze these settings with the application dconf-editor. You can not open this as a normal document.
