[OPEN] Unable to install ArcoLinuxD from the minimal ISO

Post by rado84 » Wed Mar 13, 2019 7:26 pm

Recently I downloaded arcolinuxb-cinnamon-min-v19.03.3.iso and tried it on a virtual machine, then I decided to try it on the real thing (burned on a DVD, 16x). But the installer closed itself without any warning, so I tried 4 more times. Out of these 5 attempts, in 3 of them the live GUI installer closed itself right after I chose Bulgarian language and in the other 2 occasions it closed as soon as I attempt to create a partition. The funny thing is that installation went smoothly on the virtual machine but not on the real one. So I gave up and installed my favorite Mint again. I guess I'll have to wait for a fixed minimal ISO before I try Arco on the real machine.
I thought you should know about this issue.

It often boils down to hardware - it can be old, not supported, ...

Linux Mint is a great distro.

Looks like you don't understand the point of this topic - to report a problem with the Arco installer, not to ask for tutorials for another distro.
And my hardware was produced at the end of 2015, so it's not old at all!

So I gave up and installed my favorite Mint again.
This text tells me you have made your decision and that is ok with us.
We are already glad you found a linux distribution that works on your hardware.

It is not possible to make an iso that will work for everyone.

If however you intend to install ArcoLinux at one time or another, we will still be here and we will try to help you every step of the way.
But we are no geniuses or gurus and we will help you without compensation.

In that case you're the ones that need a tutorial - on how to make an installer working for everyone cuz apparently it is possible, considering how many people use Mint and no one ever complained about the installer closing itself.

Yes I would like someone to teach me to do just that.

IF there are people, who are willing to join the ArcoLinux team, they can always apply.

And I may add it is hard work and you do not get paid but in general it is very rewarding.
