[SOLVED] the making of an ArcoLinux-Xfce-Bspwm and getting issues

Post by bobo5290461 » Wed Sep 18, 2019 11:02 am

i created a Arcolinux-xfce-bspwm .... once and now i was recreating it again but bspwm and especially the polybar seem to be an issue

I ussed Arcolinuxb-xfce and Arcolinuxb-bspwm and I compared both packages.x86_64 and unchecked in xfce what is used by bspwm. Than i build the iso.
And... xfce is oke but the bspwm is in error.

Then i used Arcolinxb-xfce and i downloaded the Getstarted zip file and used ArcolinuxD-bspwm , ran script 100 , 400, 500 and 600. Still error.

Am i missing something?? Is there a video off a build from Arcolinuxb-xfce with another desktop. (Found a video with ArcolinuxD)

Thanks in advance.

There is no video for this.

But you do the right approach.

Try rebuilding polybar first.

also make sure you HAVE the polybar files in your ~/.config/polybar

then we see how to proceed

I rebuild it and i rebuild polybar , made sure the files are in config. Result : just a background and nothing works , not even the shortcuts.
By the way i3 is also installed at the same time, thats normal?
And once i have chosen bspwm its locked a reboot keeps it in bspwm and i can not return to xfce.

Maybe if i use ArcolinuxB-bspwm and add ArcolinuxD-xfce??

Terminal won't launch !!! Nothing does. That is what is so strange. by the way : its in virtualbox but that should not make a difference i think.

I call it a day ! Will start tomorrow again and will keep this topic updated.
Thanks anyway, Erik.

good night

we will figure it out

IF it is on VB - I recommend a clean install to compare both vb's

It works here so it has to work there

Polybar I mean --- mixing desktops is always a bit tricky

Top of the morning!!

Iused the packages.x86_64 from bspwm and copied what was extra needed in bspwm into the packages.x86_64 from xfce.
But at the end it says :
#desktop specific
bspwm
sxhkd
polybar
xdo
xdotool
sutils-git
xtitle-git
It installs the polybar but its never build!!!
I deleted that part and voila , script 100 and than script 500 (sh AUR-DS/install-polybar-v*.sh)!!!!! Now polybar is build.

The i3 desktop is also installed but at least i found what was wrong.
I cried wolf to soon.

Damn, this system is GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many thanks, master.
