[SOLVED] zsh-syntax-highlighting

Post by Poetician » Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:50 pm

Followed your video tutorial. Syntax-highlighting not installed activated or nothing. Went to git, followed the instructions, but after I got most of the errors ironed out I'm stumped. Last trick I tried:

Copy/pasted

plugins=( [plugins...] zsh-syntax-highlighting)

in .zshrc below

plugins=(git)

source $ZSH/oh-my-zsh.sh

That reduced the errors to this:

[oh-my-zsh] Random theme '/usr/share/oh-my-zsh//themes/candy.zsh-theme' loaded...
/home/poetician/.zshrc:78: no matches found: [plugins...]

I must be getting close, but I could use a push in the right direction. Is this a skel issue?

Everything is already installed on ArcoLinux and ArcoLinuxB.

Arch Linux and ArcoLinuxD you are the one responsible of getting the applications.

Here are the packages you need

https://arcolinux.com/changing-your-she ... y-desktop/

You will need also our .zshrc.

Code: Select all

sudo pacman -S arcolinux-zsh-git
or

https://github.com/arcolinux/arcolinux- ... kel/.zshrc

Which yields the following:

[oh-my-zsh] Random theme '/usr/share/oh-my-zsh//themes/pmcgee.zsh-theme' loaded...
/usr/share/zsh/plugins/zsh-syntax-highlighting/zsh-syntax-highlighting.zsh:42: no such file or directory: /usr/share/zsh/plugins/zsh-syntax-highlighting/.version
/usr/share/zsh/plugins/zsh-syntax-highlighting/zsh-syntax-highlighting.zsh:43: no such file or directory: /usr/share/zsh/plugins/zsh-syntax-highlighting/.revision-hash
zsh-syntax-highlighting: highlighters directory '/usr/share/zsh/plugins/zsh-syntax-highlighting/highlighters' not found.
zsh-syntax-highlighting: failed loading highlighters, exiting.

-B Xtended i3wm... I think it's B. I've gone through too many installations lol

Incidentally, the aliases now work (they didn't initially) and the highlighting is the only plugin I've installed that's not working.

Not solved at all... I might trash Sway and install i3 on that partition and experiment there.

Don't know if this is significant, but nowhere in the installation procedure was ~/.oh-my-zsh created, so I manually created one and copy/pasted from user/share... if I recall.

The .zshrc points to this:

plugins=(git)

source $ZSH/oh-my-zsh.sh

oh-my-zsh.sh is in /usr/share/oh-my-zsh/ https://pastebin.com/u/poetician

Also, cycling through with auto-completion is not enabled/functioning...
