[SOLVED] Timeshift, Font Manager Update Error going from 6.9.2 --> 18.9.5

Post by codestruggler » Sun Sep 16, 2018 5:43 am

I had installed v6.9.2 of Arcolinux just 4 days back. I updated 399 packages that day. I was getting the public Key error, also solved that looking at the some of eriks Videos and tutorials. And now I decided to update to 18.9.5. I watched the video how to upgrade. I ran

Code: Select all

update

Code: Select all

pksyua
Also corrected the

Code: Select all

/etc/sudoers.d
permissions warning. while running pksyua I am getting 2 build errors.
One for timeshift and other for the font-manager.

Timeshift

Code: Select all

Font-Manager

    Aborting...
==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build font-manager.
==> Restart building font-manager ? [y/N]

Would be extremely grateful for some help with this.

I was doing all the upgrading in the i3 environment. Miraculously after switching to Xfce and running the updates again Timeshift and Font-manager were installed correctly. Does updating in the i3 environment present some problems ? Should we switch xfce always while updating ?

None at all.

AUR is not Arch Linux and not ArcoLinux. Things change and the maintainer must follow the changes.

The pkgbuild was probably "improved". Once a "bad" build has been downloaded and tried it stays on your system in /tmp or your .cache.

Rebooting cleans out these folders. After rebooting "if the pkgbuild is then correct" then you are successful in the build.

Enjoy.
